Where to use them in Orange Beach

Orange Beach is built around the water. Perdido Beach Boulevard runs along the Gulf, and Perdido Pass cuts through at the east end, where the back bays meet open water. A lot of the boat rentals, charter captains and dolphin cruises in town leave from marinas close to the pass.

If you've never rented a pontoon, this is a good place to start. The back bays are calmer than the Gulf, and plenty of families spend the whole day anchored off a quiet beach. Book a morning slot if you can. Summer storms tend to build in the afternoon.

The Wharf sits on the Intracoastal Waterway along Canal Road, with shops, restaurants, a marina, an amphitheater and a big Ferris wheel. It's the easy pick for a night out when you've had enough sun.

For the beach itself, the public accesses at Cotton Bayou and Alabama Point have parking and restrooms. Get there early on summer weekends, because the lots fill fast.
