Where to use them in Gulf Shores

Most of Gulf Shores sits along two roads. Highway 59 crosses the Intracoastal Waterway and ends at the public beach. Beach Boulevard runs east and west along the sand from there. A lot of the restaurants, rental shops and ice cream stops you'll want are a few minutes from that corner.

Gulf State Park fills the east side of town, with its own beach, a long fishing pier, Lake Shelby and miles of paved bike trails. If you've got kids along, the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo is a short drive inland. Check the app before you go for the current admission deal.

Heading west, Fort Morgan Road runs out toward the old fort and the Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge. It's quieter out there and makes a good half day away from the beach crowd.

Coming in October? The National Shrimp Festival takes over the public beach the second weekend of the month, and it's one of the busiest weekends of the year. Book your room early and save your coupons for the meals away from the crowds.
